Mr. Wade’s greatest impression upon my children has been his work in the development of an app, HappyBillionthSecond.com, from concept to functionality. What began as an after class math club with my three sons turned into an entrepreneurial venture with the app’s launch in 2015. The persistence and dedication that this initiative has required continues to astound me even as they work to continuously improve upon their success.

My experience as Corey Wade's student at the Berkeley Independent Study program is a jewel that stands out among my collection of memories from high school. I took a variety of classes from him, ranging from geometry to journalism. His skills of instruction, coupled with his talent for estimating with formidable accuracy the measure of his students' abilities, enabled me to pursue the class subjects with a sense of ownership, confidence and a touch of personal flavor. His enthusiasm for creativity and his encouragement of my natural intuition to blend subjects of unlikely commonality contributed fundamentally, I think, to my success as a major of Biochemistry and a minor of music performance, of mathematics and of religious studies.  I find I am able to reflect on Corey without prompt not only due to his excellence as an academic leader, but also because it is a sheer delight to be in his company.

Corey was a wonderful and patient math teacher for both of my children. My children are very different from each other and have very different mathematical abilities. Corey knew who and when to push farther into higher level math. His advocacy for my more mathematically inclined child was absolutely crucial to his/her math success in high school. Without his honest input and guidance, we would not have known to steer this child onto his/her more advanced math trajectory. Corey's patience and nurturing of my other child enabled that child to approach his/her high school required math classes without fear.
