PersonAligned Learning provides 1-1 classes and tutoring for junior high and high school students. Each session is designed around the student. The student is not part of a classroom. The student is the classroom. The entire class is designed around him/her.

There is no predetermined curriculum. While particular classes are offered, flow is designed around the student. By providing subject area expertise, and years of experience, the teacher guides the student to where he/she want to be.

After establishing goals, students learn new skills, extend curricula and advance toward higher-order thinking. Working hard and pursuing tangents are encouraged. Practice and projects sharpen the mind. Instead of receiving an education, the student carves their own path with an experienced guide.

BIO
Corey Wade chairs the math department and teaches all junior high and high school math classes at Berkeley Independent Study. At BIS, he teaches students one-on-one for a living. He started PersonAligned Learning to go beyond the limitations of institutionalized education.

Corey has previously taught all standard subjects for the Home & Hospital Instruction Program (BUSD), in addition to college courses at California State University, East Bay. His credentials include a Master of Science in Mathematics, a Master of Fine Arts in Writing & Consciousness, and a Clear Teaching Credential in Secondary Mathematics.
​
A lifelong learner, Corey recently completed coursework in Python and iOS/Swift. He received a grant in 2017 from the Berkeley High School Development Group to teach "IS Programming Power," an extracurricular coding club supporting female and minority students. He's currently working on several apps in development.
